Varsity Volleyball’s Dig Pink is Huge Success

On Monday, Oct. 6, the Varsity Girls’ Volleyball team held a Dig Pink Night. With the fans packed in the gym, all decked out in pink, the girls’ team had a great victory, sweeping the Fallston Cougars in 3 sets. The night was an overall success with over $1,500 raised for Breast Cancer Awareness.

Activities of the night included a photo booth, the sale of Dig Pink t-shirts, signs for those who have or have had breast cancer, raffles, and prizes! All of these prizes were donated from other fall sports teams or local stores, shops, and restaurants. Music being played all throughout the night and announcements made were all thanks to Mr. Markland.

“It’s the nights like these that really make me miss my coaching days,” said P.E. teacher Mr. Markland

The guest speaker from the night was a woman from the Breast Cancer Awareness Society speaking about how thankful she was that events like these are becoming more often, and that people are more aware of breast cancer. Another special event, a JV member Bethany Ingram sang the National Anthem before the game started and did a wonderful job.

“The night was an overall success! Winning our second victory against Fallston with so many people watching made it that much better because the money is for a great cause, and the audience always makes the game more exciting!” said Captain and Setter Anna Wojciechowski.
