The Class of 2015 remains undefeated in Powderpuff football. In what was a defensive battle between the juniors and seniors, the senior girls came out on top, winning 7-0.

Not even three minutes had passed before Senior Ali Haas juked and spun her way into the end zone, putting 6 points on the board for the seniors. Renie Tsomos kicked the extra point, giving the seniors a 7-0 lead. The juniors then got their chance with on offense, but the seniors’ stone wall defense led to a turnover on downs. Immediately following the seniors regaining possession, Junior Carrie Simmons had an attempt at an interception, but it hit the ground, giving the senior offense another chance at the endzone. With the first half winding down the seniors had one more chance to give themselves a two touchdown lead over the juniors. The junior defense made a goal line stand and stopped the senior offense on the 3 yard line. The half ended with the score remaining at 7-0.

And out came the cheerleaders: a group of energetic, Bobcat-pride filled, acrobatic seniors and juniors to lead the halftime show.  The cheerleaders were led by seniors Dan Hopkins and Anthony Sampayo, while Senior Taylor Hruz choreographed their show stopping dance.

“I mean, not to brag, but we were the best cheerleaders ever,” said Junior Luigi Ascenzi, with a little too much confidence. “We should probably cheer at all games with the cheerleading team.”

The game started back up with the juniors in possession of the ball, but it was a quick three-and-out and the seniors were back in control. Senior Hailey Myers led the offensive charge, but could not seem to break past the juniors’ defensive line, leading to another turnover. The rest of the second half followed a similar pattern, with very few first downs for both teams and great defense played by both teams. Coach of the seniors’, Mr. Benfield, ran some creative plays to break down the junior defense, and ran out the clock, ending the game with a senior victory.

Two-time player Aristea Burdusi said after the game, “It was awesome to make history as the first class to win both junior and senior year.”
