On Saturday, April 18, 2015, Harford Community College held its annual open house and Fighting Owls Fest.

HCC holds its open house every year in order to help students figure out what they would like to major in, the best ways to pay for their tuition, and to let them explore and get familiar with the campus. Career Counselor Bill Elliot held an O*Net Career Interest Profiler from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. to help identify student’s interests and allow them to explore possible careers they could have in the future.

Future Quest and the Parents Connect: Paying for College Seminar began at 9:50 a.m. Future Quest allows students to attend seminars and demonstrations on all of the different academic divisions that HCC has to offer, such as Educational Studies; Applied Technology; Humanities; etc. The Parents Connect Seminar is held exclusively for the parents and instructs them on the best way to pay for their child’s tuition. At 10:20 a.m. another seminar titled Parents Connect: 2+2 = Degree Completion was held, which taught the parents how their children could transfer their HCC credits to another college after two years.

Allegra Kavlich, a parent of a soon to be college student, says that “The seminar was very informative and helpful. I wasn’t exactly sure what the best way to pay for my son’s tuition, but now I feel a lot more confident and less stressed out about it.”

After the seminars concluded at 11:30 a.m., HCC began its annual Fighting Owls Fest, which featured an impressive forty foot obstacle course, entertainment, and three home athletic events to watch; Women’s Lacrosse at 10:30 a.m,; Baseball from 12:00 p.m. to 2 p.m.; and Men’s Lacrosse at 1 p.m.
