Christmas Movie Classics

Rachel Meyers

Now that December has finally arrived, there are so many different Christmas movies you can enjoy watching with your family and friends!

A comedy classic is Elf. This is a good one to watch with anyone, and is a great way to get into the Christmas spirit. For those that don’t know, it’s about a boy (Buddy) who is raised at the North Pole as an elf. As time passes, he’s very curious about his birth parents and heads to New York to figure everything out. Since he lived in the North pole with so many elves, he definitely has different ideas about how to do a lot of normal everyday things, which makes it a really funny movie.

The Polar Express is about a young boy who boards on a train the night before Christmas and goes on an adventure to the North Pole with other kids in different neighborhoods. During his trip, he learns a lot about the spirit of Christmas, and about friendship and bravery. This is a great movie to watch with your family.

Another great classic is Home Alone. This comedy is about a young boy named Kevin who is left behind when his family goes on vacation in France for the holiday. Being so young, he learns how to do a lot of stuff on his own and has to protect himself against two burglars who are planning to rob a bunch of houses in his neighborhood. There are two more Home Alone flick also, which are a great watch as well.

A cute, kid Christmas movie is Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas. This is a three-part movie. The first part, “Donald Duck: Stuck on Christmas”, is about Huey, Duey and Louie who keep re-living Christmas every night. The second, “A Very Goofy Christmas”, in which Goofy tries to reinvigorate his son’s skepticism about Santa. And lastly, “Mickey and Minnie’s Gift of the Magi”, which is about the tale of Christmas selflessness.

Since Christmas is a holiday in which all families get together, a great way to keep the bond going is by watching movies like these. It seems like as we get older, it doesn’t really feel like it’s actually Christmas. Watching these kinds of films definitely helps, and is a great way to relax during these holidays.
