NAHS Discusses Upcoming Projects

On Tuesday, Sept. 9, the National Art Honor Society held their second meeting of the year after school in Mrs. Ballard’s room to discuss upcoming projects.

One of the events that NAHS will be participating in again this year is “Paint the Town Pink”. Last year in October, members created their own designs centered on breast cancer awareness and then went around downtown painting their designs on multiple store windows. Another possible event that was discussed at the meeting was a field trip in November to New York to see the 9/11 memorial. The field trip is open to all NAHS members as well as a few of Mrs. Ballard’s art classes.

Over the past few years, NAHS have painted multiple murals for different people or organizations. This year the members are discussing doing a mural for the children’s section at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center.

Senior President of NAHS, Aly Topscher commented, “It would be a great opportunity to be able to paint a mural for the children’s section at the hospital. Being able to present it to them would be an awesome experience.”

Other than talking about future projects, NAHS as well as members from Art Club worked on Homecoming decorations together, creating paper flowers as well as sponge painting on paper to depict sand. Art Club and NAHS both meet after school every Tuesday in Mrs. Ballard’s classroom until 3 p.m. Although there are specific requirements to join National Art Honor Society, anyone can join Art Club.
