On April 5, 2026, the UCLA’S Women’s basketball team made their win against the South Carolina Gamecocks in Phoenix with a score of 79-51. The team calls out Lauren Betts for her outstanding performance in the women’s tournament.
Betts stated, “I think all of us expected to get a lot of attention for winning a national championship but not at this level…It’s just what I do, helping my team out. I love these girls and one thing about us is that we’re always gonna work together”. Betts shows her compassion for her team and puts them in the spotlight for success.
In the first quarter UCLA’S team were all through out showing their best efforts while North Carolina started off rocky but was kept on standby. By time the second quarter came, the score was a close at 36-23. North Carolina faced challenges on the way, but kept up with UCLA. Despite a poor defensive showing, they still overall managed to work as a team.
By the end of the quarters, UCLA took advantage and put major points up, leading to an exciting Carolina defeat. Some people say the game was over before it started. Players Kiki Rice and Gabriela Jaquez were also recognized for good defense and strong scoring on UCLA’s behalf.
While the women’s college game was very successful, the men’s team also had a huge win. A day before, the Michigan Wolverines overtook the UConn Huskies with a score of 69–63. The game was held at the Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, IN.
Michigan first quarter started off strongly, but UConn had very good start. The UConn led defense strongly leading to minimum action in the quarter’s behalf. When second quarter arrived, UConn made their move against Michigan and was almost pulled through to secure a win.
Through out UConn was coming in and it was a close game coming in seeing it only 6-point difference. Both teams gave it their all and had good ball control and much team leadership. Shout out to Michigan players Elliot Cadeau and Yaxel Lendeborg for their good work against opponents.
The team showed gratitude for UConn defense and calls it a close game. Elliot Cadeau shared his final words:“Man, it means the world to me… I’m just so proud of myself.” Player Lendenborg shared how difficult but rewarding the fight can be.” They might still be calling us mercenaries, but we’re the hardest-playing team in national basketball. We’re the best team in college basketball.”
