The Scoop: What to Expect For Your Senior Year

The Scoop: What to Expect For Your Senior Year

Four consecutive years, at the same school, learning the same materials, all for it to be over in an instant. For anyone, graduation seems like a lifetime away, but in reality, it’s right around the corner. As a senior myself, it hasn’t fully set it yet that this is my last year at Bel Air High School. Yes, I have half days and attend all the senior events, but I haven’t become aware that my high school experience is coming to an end.

On the first day of school, the seniors had senior sunrise where they woke up earlier than most to come out to the front field with snacks and blankets, senior frames and cameras, to document the first last beginning of their high school experience. The sun wasn’t the best, but the energy everyone brought to the field was what made it feel like a lasting memory.

The perfect smile, good hair all for a senior portrait. The most important picture of the year besides the usual senior pictures you get taken. The senior portrait is what you look back on when you think of high school, I know I do. I still look back at my mom’s senior portrait from back in the day because it’s so interesting to see how the times have changed, and the style back then. The same will go for us, one day people will be looking back at your senior portrait in the yearbook and see how much the times have changed, and how differently we did things as opposed to in the future.

The rest of the year is filled with many more exciting activities, like Powder Puff on November 12th, Prom on May 2nd, Senior school trip on May 21st, and so much more! Whether you want to get involved in the activities or not, it’s always good to get out of your comfort zone and go to some of these senior activities so you can make memories to look back on.

This may seem like the end of an era for some, the end of your childhood, the beginning of adulthood, but this is just the start of the whole life you have ahead of you.
