All school vacations and breaks have come to an end, and summer is within arm’s reach. The weather is warm, and you yearn to be outside. School work becomes optional and futile. As the end of the year approaches, students enter a period of decreased energy, motivation, and productivity. This is due to the anticipation of summer break, physical and mental exhaustion, and schedule/routine changes.
This end of year slump can happen with any subject. Stella Deschenes, a reporter for The Oakmonitor, shared the appropriateness of the timing in her article. “An example of this slump is this very article that I am writing”. She goes on to explain that she loves writing, but everything involving creativity becomes difficult at the end of the year.
My advice? After giving your all for eight months straight, the last month and a half you must power through, and when you do you will feel more accomplished. Focus on small goals and not give up. Though this is easier said than done, it will be worth it in the end. Remember your struggles as well as your successes, because when your time in school is over, you will miss them both equally.
