Biomedical Capstone Innovation seniors are set to graduate after presenting their yearlong projects on the evening of May 15th. These seniors created projects based on their field of interest related to real life problems and worked on these projects the duration of their school year. These projects varied from medical posters to real items such as inflatable jackets. These projects did not necessarily have to exist in the world today, but represent solutions the students wanted to exist.
Biomedical Capstone is about the science and learning of medical studies and medicine. Senior year for these seniors was choosing their very path. The Biomed program helps students persevere through rigorous courses throughout the years. This also sets students up for their future studies. When questioned about how Biomed sets students up for success, Biomed teacher Ms. Hamilton said, “For the students it was them stepping into the real science community and solving real world problems.”
This year’s Biomed capstone took off with volunteers setting up tables, posters, and curtains for the event. Those who stayed after 5:00 PM were well dressed for the presentation. Parents made their way in the school around 6:00 PM, touring many posters. They had written post cards about how they felt about their children’s posters as an encourager.
The lead teachers of Biomed—Mrs. Long, Ms. Hamilton, Mr. Weeks, and Mrs. Barry—organized this event. After the event, parents and staff moved to the auditorium where awards took place. Graduates of 2024 returned to BAHS to give a memorable speech for the upcoming class soon to graduate.
