On Thursday, April 24, the upperclassman of Bel Air High School’s National English Honor Society (NEHS) created a fun and educational family engagement night for the students of Emmorton Elementary School. Their responsibilities included overseeing set up and clean up, as well as making sure the students completed all tasks.
This opportunity allowed some of the soon-to-be graduates to get one last glimpse of their childhood. Junior Julia Byers expresses, “As someone who went to Emmorton it was really nice to be back there and see some old teachers.” Previously, Beyers had not been in the building for 7 years.
The members also ran the reading escape room and gave stamps as the students finished. To complete it, they had to first use an alphabet code to find out who certain people were, and then they wrote down the popular character or book title that came with it. Then the science students helped with science, technology, engineering and math activities such as identifying animals and using microscopes.
Bel Air Seniors graduate at 6pm on May 29 at Harford Community College.
