The streak began on March 31, 2025, against the Aberdeen Eagles, winning 18-7. This marked their first win out of 5 games. Their second win on April 1- won by mercy rule- was also against Aberdeen with a score of 12-2.
Head coach Samuel Spooner contributes these wins to two things: pitching and late-inning hits. In the first game, Aberdeen scored their 7 runs only in the first 2 innings. For the rest of the game, BAHS did not let a single one of their players reach home plate. “Our pitching settled in and they gave up no runs,” explained Coach Spooner. “The Bobcats were able to score 4 runs in the fourth inning, 5 runs in the fifth, and another 5 runs in the sixth.” During the second game, the “pitching shut them down,” allowing only 2 runs to get past.
The team is young, consisting of only 3 seniors, which explains their slow start to the season. Spooner has hope for the team; “[it] bodes well for the future for us because we are so young, these guys are being developed through the program. And it’s going to lead to a lot of good successes.”
As the players grow as a team and continue their streak, there are a few things they hope to improve on. “One of the things we are trying to do is working on getting the ball from the outfield quickly, trying to make sure we are really effective in our infield transitions, making sure we are not making any errors in the field, and ensuring that our pitchers aren’t walking pictures; […] which is one of the big things to avoid,” shared Spooner.
BAHS plays the Patterson Mill Huskies on April 4.
