On Thursday, March 27, the final 16 teams duked it out for a spot in the final four. After four days, four teams remain. The most exciting outcome possible: all 1-seeds! For the women, 3 1-seeds and a 2-seed made the final four.

In the Sweet 16 round, Alabama set the NCAA record for most three-pointers in a game, putting up a whopping 113 points. Our hometown Terps were handled by 1-seed Florida, and Texas Tech ended Arkansas’ Cinderella run. Tennessee continued their trek for their first Final Four, ending Kentucky’s run. 1-seed Houston barely survived against Purdue but pulled it out in the end.

In the Elite Eight round, Florida had an incredible comeback against Texas Tech, punching their first ticket since 2008. Duke easily passed by Alabama, Houston easily passed by Tennessee, and Auburn handled Michigan State.

The Final Four is set for the Men’s tournament: Auburn, Duke, Florida and Houston made up only the second all 1-seed Final Four in history.

For the Women’s tournament, Maryland was taken down by South Carolina, but kept it close, losing by 4 points. TCU defeated juggernaut Notre Dame, UConn easily handled Oklahoma, and USC ended the Kansas State surprise run.

South Carolina barely slipped past Duke 54-50 to punch another ticket to the Final Four, UCLA defeated LSU, Texas defeated TCU, and UConn once again upset 1-seed USC. Texas, South Carolina, UConn, and UCLA make up the final four.

Friday, April 4 will start the Women’s Final Four, while Saturday, April 5, will start the Men’s Final Four. By the end of the weekend, two new champions will be crowned!
