Kristen Bell Keeps Audience Wanting More After SAG Awards

Bell hosted the awards show last Sunday, February 23.

At last year’s Golden Globes, comedian Jo Koy made offensive jabs at actors and the award nominated films they created. Despite the consensus that comedians shouldn’t host award shows, at this year’s SAG Awards Gossip Girl’s own Kristen Bell proves that comedic actors can still deliver a fun and fabulous show even better than the most dramatic of actors.

This was Bell’s second time hosting the awards, and Bell paid tribute to the movie Frozen, by singing a song called “Do You Wanna be an Actor,” inspired by the song, “Do You Wanna Build a Snowman” originally sung by her in the film. During her performance there was a slideshow of actors in their respective films. Including one of Bell from the show that made her  a household name, Veronica Mars.

She also had a bit that went on throughout the night, where her previous co-stars battled to determine who was Bell’s favorite. The bit included Jason Segel, Ted Danson, William Jackson Harper, and Adam Brody.

Later in the show, she performed a bit related to Gossip Girl, where she “read” messages sent to her and said, “Hey everyone, Gossip Girl here, one of my sources LAMY86 sends me this. ‘Spotted at table eight, Jeff Goldblum has a WICKED appetite, and a peak behind the curtain reveals he likes his green eggs with HAM.’ The camera then zooms out and it is revealed that LAMY86 was Leighton Meester who played Blair Waldorf in Gossip Girl. Fans were so excited, because it has been years since the two have been seen together in public. However, Meester is married to Bell’s most recent co-star, Adam Brody, so their paths may have crossed.

By staying respectful whilst using humor to engage the audience, Bell creates a night to remember for all actors in attendance, solidifying her status as one of the top performers of the night.
