Basketball Teams, JV and Varsity had their first games of the season this past week, December 9-13.
Boys JV Basketball played their first game against Joppatowne and pulled a win 40-33, but varsity lost 71-43. Boys Varsity Basketball played their 2nd game against Aberdeen at home on December 10, 2024. This game was nerve-wracking but unfortunately Aberdeen won in a nail-biter with the score finishing at 49-46.
Girls Varsity Basketball traveled to Aberdeen High School on December 10, 2024. Again, this game had people on the edge of their seats, ending the game with another Aberdeen win and a disappointment for the Bobcats 36-31. Girls Varsity had their second game on December 11, 2024, against Severna Park High School. The girls traveled again but ended up losing 40-13.
Although both Girls and Boys Varsity teams lost to Aberdeen, they put up a fight, engaging in the game and putting in all their effort. Assistant Coach Brandon Meixsell for the Boys Varsity Basketball team here at Bel Air told us how he felt the season was going, after the rough start. “Our primary focus this season is on building a foundation of trust, discipline, and team chemistry. We look forward to watching the team evolve and are confident in the potential within this group.”
Bel Air Basketball has started and can only go up from here! The excitement continues for the 3rd games for both teams this week, with home games Tuesday for Boys and Wednesday for Girls. Come out and support the teams!
