Last weekend, The Bel Air Drama Company’s production of “Puffs, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic” closed, which had enthralled spectators with its heartwarming message of finding one’s place in the world and its humorous moments. The cast’s acting skills and improv bits, together with the crew’s set and aid with props, brought this wonderful world to life, providing an incredible theatrical experience.

According to Wikipedia, “Puffs, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic is a 2015 original comedy play by playwright Matt Cox. The play is a parody of the

Harry Potter book series by J. K. Rowling, but from the perspective of the “Puffs”: being members of the Hogwarts house, Hufflepuff.” The show follows the Puffs throughout all seven years of Magic School, including a plethora of references to the original series and many recognizable quips.

On November 18, the cast and crew held a postmortem, where they talked about the company’s strengths and areas for improvement for the upcoming season. Junior Brooke Burstein, who played Megan, says, “Puffs was the first show I’ve done where I got my own chance to shine and explore my talents. I gained so much from the experience and owe it all to the phenomenal company. Their support and efforts, whether cast or crew, really show when we get the chance to perform.”

To gain “ITS points” for membership in the International Thespian Society, members of the company completed ITS forms at the postmortem. Members must accrue a minimum of 20 points in order to be accepted to the honor society. Members should get an email in the coming weeks with the results of this season’s ITS points, informing them of their current eligibility for induction into the honor society.

Next up this spring, the beloved Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will be revived as a musical by the BADC. Come out and support this fantastic group at our school!
