On Tuesday, October 29th, Mr. Nathan Jourdan’s Drama II and III students saw a classic adaptation of “MacBeth” at the Chesapeake Shakespeare theater in Baltimore.
Sophomores taking English II will read the classic Shakespearean play this school year, while juniors and seniors who have completed the class have already read it. It’s also not the last field trip to Chesapeake Shakespeare Theater, as sophomores in various English classes will go later this November.
The Chesapeake Shakespeare Theater is more confined compared to other theaters, with the seats being so close to the stage, actors didn’t actually have to wear microphones. Some students felt the smaller space made for a more engaging and personal performance.
Addie Davis, a sophomore in Drama II, shares: “It was very interactive, and the acting was phenomenal, we got to ask [the actors] questions and actually go meet them.” Davis felt the actors did an excellent job on conveying the message and emotions of the play. Overall, the trip was a success and a memorable experience for students and staff!
If you are interested in taking upper level Drama electives, talk to your school counselor or Mr. Nathan Jourdan in the Black Box theater.
