Along with the new teachers of Bel Air High, this year we welcome our new assistant principal, Mr. Tom Smith!
Smith grew up in Manchester, England, but moved to the United States 11 years ago and has been here ever since. He lives with his wife and 2 sons. Mr. Smith played Rugby in Manchester since he was a kid, until he moved here.
Smith enjoys playing soccer and being outdoors, especially being on the water. He told us, “I enjoy Football or Soccer as it is called here; being outdoors or on the water, and I love to paddleboard.” Smith continues to be a Manchester City fan all the way from Maryland.
Prior to coming to Bel Air High School, Smith was a science teacher, instructional assessment and data specialist at Magnolia Middle School. He is still getting used to high school and is excited for the year ahead. Smith explains, “I love being part of Bel Air High School; everyone is so welcoming. I am learning a lot about high school and still getting my brain around schedules.”
Smith has enjoyed attending the sporting events here at Bel Air High and is looking forward to seeing the shows and concerts that are coming up in the year. Smith says, “The school spirit is fantastic, I am really excited about what this year has to bring and seeing everyone be successful!”
We are so happy to have you at Bel Air High School, Mr. Smith! Welcome to Bobcat Nation.
