On Thursday, September 26th, Mr. Geoffrey McIntyre’s Marine Science class took a field trip to the Marine Museum in Havre De Grace.
The Maritime Museum is a museum that focuses on documenting the Lower Susquehanna River, Upper Chesapeake Bay Region, and their watersheds. They gather and interpret the environment surrounding those and the historical maritime’s culture. Students learned about the different types of plankton, among other scientific topics.
The museum has numerous engaging exhibits, including “The Underground Railroad” (a permanent exhibit) and a few of the many current exhibits, including “Commercial Fishing,” “The Ice Harvest,” and “The United States Coast Guard.” They also have outdoor exhibits.
Corrine Lubiano, an 11th grader who went on the trip, explained: “The museum was a really fun and adventurous experience!”
The Maritime Museum field trip is a special perk of completing the Marine Science/Astronomy science class combo at BAHS. Please consider adding to your course consideration for next year!
