On Friday, May 17th, Bel Air Journalism and Art students visited the Bel Air Garden Mart to go do on site painting, drawing, and media coverage of the event. The purpose of the Garden Mart is for members of the community to browse and purchase plants on display, explore the local art gallery (Harford Artists), and meet with some environmental activists who introduced movements and programs available to Harford County residents.
The students walked to the Bel Air Armory and set up a table to do their artwork. While they were painting, people also went around to the various tables to look at the displays. The students spent about two hours painting and looking around before the art gallery opened.
In the art gallery, there were displays of art made by local artists that were on sale. From pottery to paintings to jewelry, many other items were on display and available for sale. Students are also welcome to submit art to Harford Artists to display in the gallery.
Journalism students interviewed local vendors and participants about their experience. We also celebrated the last field trip of the year for our senior programs.
Thank you to Ms. Nicki Jergensen and Mrs. Colleen DiNunno for helping to organize the trip! Until next year!
