As the playoffs approach for spring sports, we want to give the fans of Bel Air a recap of the first part of their amazing seasons, sport by sport.
Girls Lacrosse
The Bobcats girl’s lacrosse team has had an amazing season full of growth. When asked about the season, Sophomore Ellie Kansler said the team has “improved so much from the beginning of the year, and getting further and further into the season has made me realize how far we have come as a team and as friends, and we plan to keep improving that by the day!” Be on the lookout for information on the lacrosse team as they wrap up their season, currently sitting at 8-4.
Boys Lacrosse
The Bobcats boy’s lacrosse team is currently 6-5 and play their final game on Tuesday, April 30, at home against Havre de Grace. When asked how the season has been going, Coach Dough Testerman said the team is “working hard to finish the year strong and prepare for the playoffs starting in May.” After a tough 2-4 start, they’ve gone 4-1 in their last 5 games and are hoping to continue the surge.
Track and Field
The Bobcats Track and Field team has had quite remarkable success this season. Sophomore Ava Tischler explained that the “boys have gotten first at our Bel Air and Perryville meets and third at Harco Relays and Havre de Grace and girls have gotten first at our Bel Air, Perryville, and Havre de Grace.” Senior night, Divisionals, and UCBACs are coming up within the next two weeks, so be on the lookout for more information on Track and Field so you can come out and support!
Baseball
The Bobcats baseball team is currently 4-8 and plays Friday, April 26, at home against Havre de Grace. When asked about how the season is going, Senior Brennan Deremeik said the season has been a lot of fun. “Playoffs are approaching soon and we’re hoping to win regionals and beyond. It’s the last year for a lot of the team, including myself, so we want to make it count.” Players such as Seniors Ian Nitz and Ben Bowen have shown their skills each game, with a 1-hit outing and home runs respectively.
Softball
The Bobcats softball team is currently 5-5 and play next at home on Monday, April 29, against Rising Sun. When asked how the season is going, Sophomore Elizabeth Zarsona said she “loves [her] team and [she’s] glad we keep trying even when we get down.” Like Boy’s Lacrosse, the Softball team has been on a hot streak recently, winning 3 in a row.
Our Bobcat athletes have been giving their all on the field this spring, and the seasons are beginning to reach playoff time. Come out and support for their final games as Seniors are sent off, hopefully in success!
