“Guys and Dolls” is a timeless American musical that premiered on Broadway in 1950. The plot revolves around a captivating group of characters involved in gambling and romantic relationships in New York City. The storyline follows the intertwined experiences of Nathan Detroit, a small-time hustler on the hunt for a spot to conduct his illegal crap game against his fiancé Adelaide’s wishes, and Sky Masterson, a high-rolling gambler who is challenged to seduce an uptight Save-A-Soul mission worker named Sarah Brown. With unforgettable tunes such as “Luck Be a Lady” and “Sit Down, You’re Rocking the Boat,” “Guys and Dolls” is celebrated for its memorable songs and witty dialogue that encapsulate the themes of redemption and renewal.
Postmortem took place on April 15th, during which the cast and crew discussed the company’s strengths and what needs to be improved upon for the next season. During the meeting, participants fill out ITS forms to earn “ITS points” towards joining the International Thespian Society. To be accepted, members must accumulate at least 20 points. The results of this year’s ITS points should be emailed to members of the drama company within the next few weeks, alerting members if they are eligible for induction to the honor society. We can’t wait to see what the BADC bring to the stage next year!
