On Saturday November 11, 2023, the Bel Air High School cheer team competed in States to conclude their fall season of 2023. The competition took place at Harford Community College.
After winning 3rd place at regionals the previous week, the Bel Air cheer team were granted succession to compete at states, where only eight of the top teams are allowed to compete. The Bobcat cheerleaders worked all season long to put out a routine to be proud of.
“We get on that mat and fight for everything,” says Emily Bowling, co-captain of the cheer team. That night they had the highest score of their season, with a 122.6 out of 100.
The competition was fierce this season, with the bobcat cheer team coming in 6th in the State. There were no stunt falls or bobbles. The girls put their best on the mat. Although the outcome isn’t what they hoped for they had a fun time this season, and they built great bonds and friendships.
The 2023 Fall cheer team won counties and placed in all competitions excluding States. The team knows what to improve on following the winter season coming up. Overall, it was a great season.
