On Wednesday, November 1, the Texas Rangers beat the Arizona Diamondbacks in 5 games to win the 2023 World Series, their first in franchise history.
In Game 1 of the series, we saw extra innings, with Adolis Garcia hitting the walk-off base hit to win the game 6-5. With Game 2, the Diamondbacks responded with a 9-1 win, tying the series 1-1. 2 days later, the Rangers won 3-1, taking the series lead to 2-1. The Rangers won Game 4, only needing one more to win their first world series in franchise history. Game 5 caps off an improbable run for Texas as they defeat the Diamondbacks and hoist the World Series trophy.
Corey Seager, shortstop for the Rangers, is named World Series MVP, as he provided a lot of power throughout the postseason. Seager drove in 3 homeruns during these 5 games, paving the way to be MVP.
The upcoming MLB season will be promising for the Rangers and Seager himself, but for now, the off-season gives the spotlight to the NFL and the NBA, which are currently fully immersed in their respective seasons.
