If you’ve seen these tables outside the cafeteria selling bags of candy, T-shirts, and more, you’ve probably wondered… what is this fundraiser for?
“Dig Pink” is an annual game which is made to raise money for the SideOut Foundation. The SideOut Foundation is an organization that raises funds for research for men and women who have breast cancer. She says that 100% of the sales from t-shirts, candy bags, etc., will go to this cause.
According to Pink Ribbon Fredrick, the foundation has been going on for the past 22 years. This fundraiser has been going on in Bel Air for the past 10 years. For about 4-5 years, Bel Air High School has been the highest earning donors of the foundation in this region of Maryland.
The “Dig Pink” Girls volleyball game will be on October 17, 2023, at home. The JV team will kick off the event starting at 5:15, following the Varsity team will play at 6:45. They’re playing against the Fallston cougars. During the game, there will be a serving contest at half time. Food trucks will be present, there will be 50/50 raffles, and a “pink out” contest will close out the evening to see who is wearing the most pink. There will also be T-shirts for sale.
Varsity player Emma Duvall looks forward to the student section each year. “They’re really loud…it’s nice to hear everybody show up.”
We encourage our Bel Air students to come and participate in these fundraiser events, or just come to have fun!
