Students Clash, Dress Up, and Show Their Spirit

On the week of Oct. 14-18, 2013, Bel Air students showed their school pride during the annual Homecoming Spirit Week.

The Homecoming festivities kicked off with Clash Day on Oct. 14. Students were sporting the wackiest clothes they could find from their closet, intentionally trying to mismatch every article. Striped leggings were worn with zebra tops while plaid shorts were paired with striped t-shirts. Kids were buzzing with excitement all day, seeing all the crazy outfits their friends were wearing.

“The best part about clash day is seeing the crazy things some people actually own,” said Brandon Marino, referring to the faux fur vest sophomore Evan Sordillo was proudly modeling around the school.

Tuesday was the most anticipated event of the week, Movie Character day. Students dressed up in costumes of characters from a very wide range of movies, and even some TV shows. Just walking down the hallway was like talking a step into your favorite flick.

“My favorite movie character was definitely the girl who dressed as Jack Sparrow, or Steve from Blue’s Clues. It’s fun seeing how creative people can get,” said sophomore Bekka Mingioni.

Wednesday was class color day, which meant everyone wore their class shirts students had purchased. Each class had a different color shirt, and on the back had their graduating year. Freshman were blue, sophomores were teal, juniors were pink, and seniors were neon green.

“I personally love class color day. It’s awesome seeing everyone representing their graduating class and everybody should buy a t-shirt,” said sophomore Carleigh Welch.

Last, but certainly not least, was blue and white/toga day, on Thursday, Oct. 17th. Freshman, sophomores, and juniors wore their Bobcat gear and showed their school pride through their blue and white attire. Seniors finally got to wear their long anticipated togas and crowns, and walked through the halls with pride, celebrating their final Homecoming Spirit Week.

The week was concluded with Homecoming on Friday, Oct. 18, which ended the 2013-14 school year’s Spirit Week. The winners of Spirit Week pride were the seniors, earning $500 for their class. 2nd place went to juniors, 3rd place was freshman, and sophomores came in last.  Bel Air High School had yet another successful Spirit Week, proving their students have an incredible amount of Bobcat pride.
