Top 5 Best Pathways to Pursue at BAHS

Morgan Solle, Staff Writer

As we approach the end of the school year, you may begin to wonder what next year has in store for you. Here at BAHS we have many different pathways you may be a part of, and we broke down the top 5 for you!

Biomedical sciences

The Biomedical sciences pathway is a “signature pathway designed to challenge students to be critical thinkers” Mrs. Barry said. The Biomedical Sciences pathway is catered towards students who are interested in STEM focused futures with a special focus of hands-on medical research. “Senior biomed students gain real world experience in a medical field of their choosing to identify a problem they can solve. Then, students must use all the skills and knowledge they gained over the years to develop a solution and justify why it would work to solve the problem!” says Mrs. Hamilton. The Biomedical Sciences pathway is an excellent pathway for anyone who is interested in deepening their education in STEM related fields.

Early Childhood

The early childhood pathway is a pathway designed to give students real life experience with teaching. The early childhood pathway has 3 different levels of education, such as, Childhood growth and development, Working with children (1&2), and Independent family living. Childhood growth and development is a course focusing on the development of a child before it reaches school age. Working with children (1&2) focuses on the education and development of children, in school and out. Lastly, Independent family living focuses on the roles of young adults in a family setting. The early childhood course would be perfect for anyone who is interested in the education field or any early childhood field.

Foreign Language

The foreign language pathway is a pathway designed to “prepare high school students for communication in the outside world” says Mrs. Rosales. This pathway requires a 4-year education in language study as well as a possibility for AP credits.  This pathway is perfect for any student that sees themselves communicating with many different languages in their desired work field.

Literary Arts

The literary arts pathway is a pathway designed to further deepen the education on the literary arts subject. This pathway includes classes such as, Journalism, Yearbook, Creative writing, and AP English 3 and 4. This pathway is the perfect pathway for anyone who wants to go into a field that is English or literary based. This pathway is also good for anyone who wants to go into the broadcasting or news and entertainment field.

Food and Beverage management

The Food and Beverage management pathway “teaches basic cooking methods and knowledge of ingredients, it also prepares students for a career in hospitality. All students graduate with employable skills” says Chef Scott.  This pathway consists of food preparation as well as learning the technique behind the food being prepared. This pathway is perfect for anyone who wants to go into the food and hospitality field.
