Alright girls, the time is among us…prom dress shopping. For the most part this can be a really fun experience whether you go with family or friends. There is also no doubt that this can also be a very stressful time. Below, I’ve compiled a list of tips that should help simplify the prom dress shopping process.

Buy Bigger: Prom dresses are very similar to wedding dresses in the aspect that they tend to run a size or two smaller than normal. Always make sure to try on your dress before purchasing. If the one you like doesn’t fit right, try a similar style.

Keep an Open Mind: Keep an open mind while going prom shopping, you may be surprised what kind of styles you end up liking or disliking. You may end up buying a dress you thought you’d never wear.

Listen to other Opinions: Just because you think you look good in a certain style or color doesn’t mean you actually look good. Make sure to listen to your family or friends while shopping for a dress. In the end, they are just trying to help.

Take Advantage of Help Offered: If you choose to go to a store or boutique listen and allow the salesperson to help you. They can help you into and out of dresses as well as hold them for you while you continue shopping. Don’t forget that the sales associates are there to help you find the dress you look best in.

Be Logical: I know for prom, its go big or go home, but keep in mind how much moving you are going to be doing. There will be pictures, dinner, and then the dance itself. Make sure to choose a dress that allows you to move around!

Above all Bobcats, choose a dress that will make you feel beautiful. Prom is a big event as a Senior, so make sure it’s a memorable one!
