Around the world there are many different types of foods that are produced and eaten worldwide. This includes many that are not commonly eaten in the United States, but can be quite tasty. Here are some different foods you should try from different cultures that can be both nutritious and fun to eat.

Lychee is a small fruit produced on the Litchi tree which is native to southern China. It has a thin but bumpy, bright red outer cover, an olive shaped, dark maroon pit in the center, and clear white edible flesh which tastes and looks like a grape. The fruit is a high in vitamin C and copper, but has a low sodium, fat, and colonial context. The food can be dried or eaten raw.

Uni is a Japanese delicacy made from the reproductive organs of sea urchins which are bright brown, orange with a soft creamy texture. Sea urchin is high in vitamin A, vitamin B, fiber, and protein, but is also high in cholesterol, and sodium. The food can be eaten raw, steamed, baked, or sautéed, and placed in multiple dished.

Horn Melon is a bright orange melon from Africa with a spiky outer covering which is filled seeds covered with edible bright green gel. The fruit is high in potassium, magnesium, and iron, and tastes like a cucumber or zucchini. It can be use both in cooking or consumed raw.

Dolmas are stuffed grape leaves which are often filled with meat and vegetables. The food is popular within the Middle East. Depending on which countries variety is eaten, different vegetables and meats are stuffed in the leaves, and the way it is served may vary. For meat, dolmas the food is often served warm, but for vegetable, domlas the food is often served cold.

Mochi is a form of Japanese rice cake made from mochigome rice made by pounding the rice until it turns into a paste. The food has a soft doughy texture, and is commonly eaten in Japan for Japanese New Year celebrations and various Japanese celebrations. The food is high in carbohydrates and is eaten with soups, ice cream, and pastries.
