Things to Expect in 2016

The year of 2015 has left its mark on pop culture and history for many years to come with its various new books, movies, pieces of music, video games, and world events. As it comes to a conclusion, many begin to anticipate 2016 and the world changes that it will bring with its arrival. Here are some things to look out for in 2016.

Disney has planned to release a diverse variety of new movies in the New Year. They plan on releasing a live action adaption of their previous movie The Jungle Book from 1967 on April 15 with the same name. They also planned on releasing Moana on November 23 which will feature the debut of their first Polynesian princess, Moana, who will be added Disney Princess franchise. The BFG will be released on July 1, a live action retelling of Roald Dahl’s award winning book that was released in 1982 about a girl who befriends a friendly giant. On June 17, Finding Dory the sequel to Finding Nemo that was released in 2003 will make its debut allowing fans of the original movie to learn more about Dory’s unknown past.

During 2016, Rio, Brazil will also be holding the 31st Olympics games from August 5 to August 21. The Olympic Games will be sponsored by OMEGA Watches, a Swiss watchmaking company known for their luxury wrist wear, and feature the mascots Vinicius and Tom Star.

2016 will also release games such a Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst, The Last Guardian, and Star Fox Zero. Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst is the sequel to the Mirror’s Edge released in 2008, and will follow the life of the protagonist of the first game, Faith. The game will be released on PC, Xbox One, and the PlayStation 4. The Last Guardian is an adventure game being released by Sony Computer Entertainment, and developed by Team Ico who are best known for creating Shadow of the Colossus in 2005. The Last Guardian will be released on the PlayStation 4. Star Fox Zero is a Wii U exclusive game that will be published by Nintendo that will be the sixth installment in their Star Fox series.

Throughout the year, new music such as Panic At the Disco’s Death of a Bachelor and U2’s Songs Experience will be released.

2016 will feature television events such as Super Bowl 50 which will air on February 7, and the MasterChef Celebrity Showdown on January 18. The Halftime Show for Super Bowl 50 will feature a live performance from Coldplay and will be held in Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. The MasterChef Celebrity Showdown will feature various types’ celebrities in a two-hour special.
