The 10th annual Festival of Trees event was held on Nov. 28 and 29 at the Bel Air Armory. All funds raised by the Chesapeake Cancer Alliance are ‘donated to supportive care services provided by Cancer LifeNet and cancer related programs at the Kaufman Cancer Center.’

There were a large number of trees, all having their own very unique theme. There were Minnie Mouse and Mickey Mouse trees, a Frosty the Snowman inspired tree, blue trees, a tree filled with all candle ornaments, a tree filled with multi-colored butterflies, along with you traditional Christmas themed trees.  Each tree was donated by various businesses, and organizations around the town of Bel Air, and were all up for purchase.

The event offered more than just trees. There were over 40 wreaths, all which varied in size and theme, along with gingerbread houses and raffles. Items that were raffled included Raven and Oriole hand-painted stools, seasonings from McCormick’s, and Ravens attire. There were 20 raffles all together.

There was more than just traditional gingerbread houses available; there were gingerbread trains, a gingerbread house based on the theme of the Wizard of Oz, and of course a there was a minion gingerbread house.

According to Sureena Johnson, a volunteer at the event, “It was so much fun! There were so many young kids who really enjoyed themselves, especially the face painting! The whole event was beautiful and definitely a success!”

The Festival of Trees was a major success and raised a lot of many for an extremely worthy cause. Thank you to all those who came and donatedIMG_0487
