In October, We Wear Pink

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and it is showing in the halls of Bel Air High School. Already, there have been fundraisers to raise awareness and money for different organizations supporting Breast Cancer research.

Many sports teams have sponsored events where the profits made from admission and product sales all go to benefit the foundations that the teams are supporting. There have also been Paws for a Cause t-shirts sold in B207. All students are raising awareness in one way or another.

According to Sureena Johnson, Bel Air High School student, “I think it’s really great how the whole school comes together to wear pink and show our support. It’s so nice to see school spirit and a worthy cause come together!”

The Girls’ Volleyball team hosted the Fallston Cougars on October 6 for a Dig Pink game. Everything was decorated in pink, even Bel Air’s uniforms! There was a photo booth, raffles and shirts for sale.  The Bobcats and Cougars came together to raise money for the Sideout Foundation.

Captain of the Girls’ Volleyball team, Anna Wojciechowski, says, “It was lovely to get so much support to raise money for the Sideout Foundation. The games went very well and the whole event was a success. It was wonderful to see!”

But the spread of awareness doesn’t stop there. Every game during the month of October, the Girls’ Soccer teams wear pink headbands to show their support. Both Boys’ Junior Varsity and Varsity Football teams wear pink gear including socks, gloves, shoes and even pink tape.

Bel Air High School always comes together to show their support and loyalty to all sorts of causes. Don’t forget to wear pink through the month of October, Bobcats!
