On Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, Luna’s House hosted the Dog Days Afternoon fundraiser.

Luna’s House is a nonprofit organization dedicated to bettering the lives of animals and their owners by promoting humane education and respect for animals. It was originally a network of foster homes until the establishment of the Animal Care and Education Center. They now work with dogs, cats, small mammals, birds and reptiles. Adoptions average to over 325 a year. Since January 2014, they have helped over 2000 animals find new homes.

The event lasted from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and featured tours of the facility, vendors, and various pet care services such as micro-chipping for $20, nail trimming for $11, and pet photos for $5.

Barry Corn, an attendee of the fundraiser says “Luna’s House is a really great organization. Whenever a friend of mine is curious about adopting a new pet I always refer them to Luna’s House, there education program is also great for people who are interested in adopting a type of pet they’ve never had before.”

Luna’s House is located at 2801 Pulaski Highway in Edgewood. For more information on adopting a pet or the Humane Education program call 410-671-2954 or visit www.lunashouse.org.
