Homecoming Week Recap

October  17th to October 21st was a busy week at Bel Air High School. Monday through Thursday was spirit week which was a great turn out. Nearly every student participated showing their school spirit and pride. Thursday afternoon was a pep rally where all the sport teams were recognized and both JV and Varsity cheerleaders performed. Mr.Benifield, Ms.Snell, Mr.Bitel, and Mrs.Bates all got pies in the face by four lucky students. There was a junk in the trunk contest but there were no winners for this, there was a hula hoop contest which Mrs.Tacket won, and there was also a football throwing contest that Mr.Huryk won. Thursday night Bel Air held the Homecoming game in the stadium, they played New Town. The bleachers were filled with supporting fans and alumni.

Friday was the Homecoming dance and when the doors were opened at 7:00pm the staff was shocked to see a huge crowd waiting to get in. People were amazed by all the decorations representing a night in Vegas. Refreshments and drinks were on sale in the cafeteria all night. Most girls took off their shoes and placed them in a bag in the cafeteria. During the dance a glass tiara broke in the gym so everybody had to evacuate the gym to get their shoes while staff cleaned up the mess. This only took a couple minutes and once the mess was cleaned the DJ started the music right back and kept it playing all night. Toward the end of the dance homecoming court was announced and walked down the center of the crowd.

During the week all week homeroom teachers tallied up who was wearing spirit and supporting the school; seniors won 1st place, juniors received 2nd place, freshman received 3rd place, and sophomores received 4th place. The students had a great time showing their Bobcat pride.
