Bel Air High School’s winter cheer team delivered an exciting and memorable performance at the regional competition held at Howard Community College on February 10th, 2026, this past weekend. The event brought together cheer teams from across the region, filling the gym with school colors, loud cheers, and an atmosphere full of energy and support.
When Bel Air took the mat, the team showed confidence from start to finish. Their routine included sharp motions, high jumps, tumbling passes, and challenging stunts that required strength and trust. The athletes had spent months practicing after school, making sure every move matched the music and that their timing was perfect. As they hit their final pose, the crowd burst into applause, showing appreciation for the team’s hard work.
One of the most memorable parts of the day was the positive environment shared by all the teams. Cheerleaders encouraged one another, no matter which school they represented. Junior Annabel Blair of the BAHS cheer team described the experience by saying, “I’d say overall it was a fun event with a great atmosphere amongst all athletes, the gym was filled with nothing but encouragement from one cheerleader to another, so we all had a good time!”
The judges scored each routine carefully, and the results were remarkably close. Bel Air earned one of the top placements in their division, which means they will advance to the state competition on February 18th, 2026, at Howard Community College at 6:00 p.m. When the announcement was made, the team celebrated together, hugging and cheering while their supporters in the stands waved school colors and shouted congratulations.
As the team prepares for states, they plan to continue practicing and polishing their routine. With strong teamwork, school spirit, and determination, the Bel Air High School cheer team hopes to bring the same energy and success to the state competition.
