On Thursday, December 15, the Varsity Swim Team competed in their second meet against C. Milton Wright, a meet that followed a season opener against Patterson Mill. A loss to the Mustangs drags the team’s overall record down to 1-1. The Boy’s team, however, continues 2-0, contrary to the Girl’s 0-2 beginning.

The final score of the C. Milton Wright meet was 180-152.2 in favor of C. Milton, the first overall win for the team since the first week of the 2021 season to Fallston High School. The Boys’ team takes another win following a Counties rematch against the Patterson Mill team that defeated them last year.

The Bobcats picked up wins in four events against the Mustangs. Wins in 200 and 500 freestyle for Sophomore Colin O’Hare and wins in 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke for Senior Greyson Maichle. The team also won the Boys’ 200 Medley and 200 freestyle relays. The girls team finished second in most events by very close margins with Senior Emily Fatkin finishing second in the 200 freestyle and the 100 butterfly. The girls team acquired many new Freshman this year to compensate for the large loss of seniors the year prior; the girls team continues to work on improving with many new faces joining the team.

Coach Galen Ziegler has faith about the strength of the team. “We have a lot of great talent and a group of kids that really want to work hard. That makes for some very effective training sessions and I am excited to see those benefits come championship time.”

The next meet will be next week, January 10, against Fallston and Joppatowne at Magnolia Middle School.
