Dig Pink Ends with a Win for Bobcats

David Simon, Girls' Volleyball Head Coach

The #7 Bel Air Bobcats (10-1) cooled off a hot C. Milton Wright team on Tuesday (25-13, 25-19, 25-14).  C. Milton had won 5 of 6 before visiting a Bel Air team that is looking to take shape as the end of the regular season approaches.

The night was also the home team’s Dig Pink match so the gym was decked out in pink decorations and fans.  The Bobcats were led by junior outside Kayden Hardenbrook (11 kills), senior outside Megan Cassaday (7 kills, 4 aces), senior middle hitter Anaiah Lewis (5 kills, 2 blocks), and senior right-side Jaydn Betters (4 kills, 2 aces).  The assists were supplied by sophomore setter/right-side Anna Kane (22 assists, 2 kills, 1 ace), and junior setter Tia Pegler (7 assists, 3 aces).  Additional offense came from junior Megan Schindhelm (1 ace), junior middle Keira Tyndall (1 ace,1 block), and senior outside Lexi Bell (1 ace).

The passing and defense was strong and led by senior libero Brooke Keesey, Bell, Cassaday and Schindhelm.  Bel Air holds a 2-game lead in the UCBAC conference over Patterson Mill with 3 matches remaining.  Bel Air faces the Huskies this Friday at Patterson Mill for what should be a spirited rematch.  Varsity 5:00pm / JV 3:30pm.

Bel Air has raised over $50,000 since their first Dig Pink match in 2010.  Before the Varsity match Janice Kruger, a representative from the Side Out foundation, briefly spoke to the gym to thank the school and community for continued involvement.  Bel Air has consistently been recognized as a top contributor with the Side Out Foundation.
