Varsity Cheer Compete in Counties

On Wednesday January 26, 2022, the Bel Air High School cheer team had their counties competition at Harford Tech High School to show off their new routine.

Bel Air got 4th place at counties with a score of 99. They got a new routine on Saturday January 15, 2022, since they had to change the routine for the previous competition due to illnesses and injuries.

“Even though we didn’t get first I am so proud of the girls for putting their best on the mat and working the routines they just got,” said Abby Stockson varsity cheer alternate.

The Bel Air cheer team got a total of 8 deductions in point due to stunt drops, falls to the ground, and incomplete skills. Although they are not thrilled with how their routine was preformed, they are glad that they had the opportunity to go to an in person competition for the first time this season.

“I am thrilled to be back in person and not virtual for counties and I hope we can advance to regionals to really redeem ourselves,” said the head coach Dani Collins.

The girls had a great season considering all of the obstacles that have been thrown at them and even though the competition didn’t go as planned they are still putting in all of the effort to redeem themselves.
