Girl Up, the club created to unite girls in our school and community, is celebrating National Women in Sports Day February 2nd. Girl Up meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month, currently in a virtual setting, but usually in Ms. Capazoli’s room.

A regular club meeting includes discussions on feminist topics, outreach activities, and so much more. The club’s leader, Emmalia Nuce, has lots of exciting plans for the rest of the school year, including celebrating Women in Sports Day. “I’m planning on creating an informative video while showcasing all the women in sports, here at Bel Air! We also happen to be hosting a meeting that day and the meeting will be themed accordingly,” Nuce said.

During this meeting, Ms. Lukasavage will also be giving an informative presentation regarding the topic. Other exciting things Girl Up has in store include the recent purchasing of Honor Cords. Seniors who helped build the club to what it is back when it was founded in the 2019-2020 school year, will receive a cord to wear with their cap and gown at graduation.

Girl Up is also in the process of organizing a restaurant fundraiser night in which all proceeds will go towards the annual Girl Up fundraiser. Last year, the proceeds went towards building schools in Ethiopia through fundraising efforts as well as a blank fitness challenge 5k.  Girl Up has lot of exciting projects in store for the rest of the 2021-22 school year.
