The Girls Volleyball Team is currently holding a record 11-1, with their only loss being to Mount De Sales. They are currently ranked 5th in the state for the 3A division.

The Girls Volleyball team had their last in season game on October 29th, 2019 against Rising Sun. Earlier in the season, Bel Air won against Rising Sun in a five-set match. Coming back stronger, the girls then defeated Rising Sun for a second time at home in four sets. With this win, they became the UCBAC Champions of the 2019 season.

On October 22nd, 2019, Bel Air Girls Volleyball had their annual senior night. The energy and intensity throughout the entire game showed the coaches, fans, and team that they were ready to play their biggest rival. These last few games have proved to the girls that the time, dedication, and effort that they have put in has made a difference on and off the court.

“I think last night we gave it our all. Our hustle and effort showed on the court. We know what we needed to do and that was to beat our biggest rival and claim the UCBAC title. I am so proud of how amazing our team played last night, and I can’t wait to see what we can do in the playoffs,” said senior captain, Sarah Markland.

With playoffs coming up, winning the game against Rising Sun was a big deal, not only because they are BAGV’s biggest rival, but because this game has prepared them for what is to come later in the playoffs. The bonding that they girls have made on and off the court has been essential to their success. With each and every athlete having a significant role on and off the court, the team has become like a second family for most of the girls.

“I am so proud of the team. Beating Rising Sun twice has been the highlight of the season. We have accomplished so much during the regular season and I can’t wait to see what we can do in play offs. If we continue to work hard and play together, I know we will be successful,” said senior captain, Olivia Simon.

The next game for BAGV is Friday, November 8th and they will play Poly Technical High School. This game could put them in the final four if they win.
