September 12th, 2019 was a night to remember for the Bel Air Girls Volleyball team as they took Rising Sun down in a five-set thriller. Every practice, every play, and every touch were leading up to this game.

BAGV hasn’t been victorious against Rising Sun in over four years, every year that the team has played Rising Sun it has been a very competitive match, but Bel Air always fell short from victory. This year the girls came out stronger than ever, proving to the Rising Sun Volleyball team that BAGV is a top competitor.

The game was a rollercoaster of emotions for every player, but especially the seniors, they had been waiting for this triumph against Rising Sun for four years. This game had a special place in the senior’s hearts leaving tears of joy at the end of the night.

One of our senior captains Sarah Markland had something to say for the amazing game that happened on Thursday, “Rising Sun has always been a game that we’ve wanted to win. Tonight, we all came in with the mindset of playing as hard as we can to come out with the result, we wanted which was beating them for the first time in seven years”.

This game was one of the most important games of the season, not just for the players but to determine what the team was capable of. This victory gives each player on the team a sense of hope for what the rest of the season holds.

Our other senior captain Olivia Simon describes how she felt about the game, “Tonight, was the second greatest feeling I’ve had in my life. I was determined to beat Rising Sun before I graduated, and that’s exactly what we did tonight, and I couldn’t be happier”.

The Bobcats are currently 4-0 overall and are currently ranked 9th in the state of Maryland. Keep up the Bobcat Pride for the Bel Air Girls Volleyball team as they attempt another run at States.
