On Friday September 13, 2019, Bel Air Bobcats Varsity Football won their first home game against South Carroll with a score of 56-16.

For the 2019 season, incoming players consist of Tristan Smith, Braelen Cypress, Jacob Powell, Thomas Martino, Joshua Gelinas, and 23 others. Returning players are Stanford Ricketts, Jaylen Reaves, Gavin Yetter, Brendan Purtell, Matthew Conroy and 17 others. Ricketts, Reaves and Yetter are also captains this year with Justin O’Bannon. This year, they will be led by coach Eric Siegel.

The Bobcats have scrimmaged Century High School in which they won 6-0. They also tri-scrimmaged 3 schools, one being Queen Annes County High School. Bel Air’s record last year was 6-4.

“If these guys keep coming together as they are, I think we will have a lot of success [this season]” Coach Eric Siegel stated after the game Friday night. “We had a lot of success, loosening them up through the air. The defense played really hard. We have a lot of young guys playing the positions”.

Players are looking forward to playing C. Milton Wright High School on Friday, September 27. They have several goals set for this season, and love to hear how much school spirit Bobcats have when they come out and show their support while they’re playing.

“[Hearing the crowd cheer for us] is definitely one of the best feeling I’ve ever had.” Israel Huitron said. Ryan Harricharan said “I feel like we’ll do great, make playoffs, win states maybe” after being asked what his predictions are for this season. Tristan Smith said “[The teams] goal is to win states”, and that “We’re working as a team, getting better every day.”

This year has been predicted by multiple players and coaches to be a good year for the Bel Air Bobcats as they prepare for their next game against Havre de Grace next Friday.
