On September 13, 2019, the BAHS golf team took on North Harford and C Milton Wright during a match a Geneva Farm Golf Club, with North Harford winning the match overall shooting 217 as a team. Bel Air followed in second place shooting a team 226, defeating the CMW shooting a 228.

The Bobcats improved from their past match playing North Harford and CMW as they had shot a 235 in that match, tying for second in that match as well. Bel Air was also playing this match away, at a course they hadn’t played yet this season.

“As a team, this is the first of many steps forward. I believe it’s the first time every one of our starters has shot in the 40’s and that is where you see stroke improvements. The best player on our team could shoot par, and the rest is shooting a 50… we would most likely lose every competitive match we have,” said senior golfer Dylan McQuarrie.

The lowest round of the match was scored by CMW’s MJ Cummings, as he shot a 39. Whilst Bel Air’s Senior Josh Brethauer shot the match low for the bobcats, at a 42. He was then  followed by Samuel Kim, 45, Joshua Wood, 45, Bryce Utz, 46, and Dylan McQuarrie, at a 58.

The course was Geneva Farm Golf Club, North Harfords home course. It was a tough round to play there as the ground throughout the course was rock solid, causing limiting conditions on some golfers.

“On multiple holes I could barely put my tee into the ground. And when not hitting off a tee, it was equivalent to hitting off stone. My club would ricochet after contacting the ball/ground causing a very uncomfortable experience to play through. But at the end of the day everybody was playing on the same ground and we all had the same opportunities,” said senior golfer Joshua Wood.

The Bobcats ranked second among the three teams competing that day and look to place better in their upcoming match against Aberdeen and Edgewood at Winters Run Golf Club on September 17, 2019.
