Softball Triumphs Over Rising Sun and Liberty

On Friday, March 29, 2019, the Varsity Softball Team played their first game of the year against Rising Sun High School in a UCBAC division game at Bel Air High School. The Bobcats came out on top, defeating the Tigers with a low score of 1-0.

After losing to Rising Sun both times they played last year, the Bobcats knew they’d need to play near perfect to get this win. With leaders like sophomore Abby Bannan, junior Peyton Hale, and seniors Kat Perea and Lindsey Martino (all going 1-3), the Bobcats were able to get their sole run, and continued to play picture perfect defense throughout the game to defeat the tigers.

“This was a great first win for us,” says junior Peyton Hale. “We haven’t had a single game this year, and we were so eager to get on the field. This is a great boost for us as we move further in the season.”

Then, on Saturday, March 30, 2019, the Bobcats woke up bright and early for another home game. Today’s game would be an out of conference game vs Liberty High School. The Bobcats sealed another win, defeating the lions 17-9.

Leaders against Liberty include sophomores Abby Bannan (4-5) and Emma Sanza (4-5 with two doubles and a triple), and junior Peyton Hale (2-2). Other contributors include juniors Madison Bosley (2-3) and Juliann DeRose (1-1), and seniors Kat Perea (2-4) and Arianna Dramis (1-3).

“Last year, we beat this team 26-19, which is a score that is way too high. We knew that we needed to clean up our defense to beat this team again. Even though we came up with the win, we ended with another high score. But now we know what we need to work on to prepare ourselves for our upcoming games next week,” says senior captain Kat Perea.
