Girls’ Basketball Falls to Mt. Hebron

On Monday, January 7, 2019, the Bel Air Girls’ Basketball team played against Mt. Hebron High School in their first out of conference game at Bel Air High School. JV sealed another win for themselves but Varsity fell short, breaking an undefeated 7-0 record.

To continue the winning streak for JV team, the Bobcats would have to start and end with intense play and stay aggressive. Fortunately, with many contributors, the JV clenched another win, with a score of 36-31, giving them an undefeated 8-0 record.

“This was an intense game for us. It wasn’t a shut out so we had to play our hardest until the buzzer, which we did very well on. We never gave up and it showed tonight as we took home this close win,” says freshman Sophia Simon.

While varsity also played an aggressive game, they couldn’t keep up with the Vikings and fell with a score of 58-32. Leaders include senior Autumn Dougherty with 15 points, senior Bailey Springer with 9 points and 10 rebounds, and junior Maggi Hall with 2 points, 8 rebounds and 3 blocks.

“This has definitely been one of our hardest games of the year. Our team loves a good challenge, but we came up on the short end. We know what we did well on and what we need to improve on to prepare us as we move farther in the season,” says senior captain Grace Wehland

The JV and varsity girls’ basketball team will play their next game on Tuesday, January 8 at Harford Tech High School in another UCBAC game at 5pm. Wish your lady cats good luck as they take on the Cobras!
