The Bel Air Drama Company’s 30th Anniversary projected them to do something crazy, and close to impossible: The Company decided to do alternating shows on alternating nights, with the one I attended being Children of Eden

One of the shows, Children of Eden was a two-act musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and based on a book by John Caird. The musical is focuses on the Book of Genesis, with Act I telling the story of Adam and Eve, Cain, and Abel, while Act II deals with Noah and the Flood.

This play had 11 main roles, following with 36 storytellers. In act I, the roles consisted of Father, Adam, Eve, Cain, Abel, and Seth. Following Act I, Act II had the roles of Father, Noah, Mama, Japheth, Ham, Shem, Aphra, Aysha, Yonah, Young Cain, and Young Abel.

In each act, the characters emotions really played a big roll in telling the story. The play itself is filled with emotion, heartbreak, love, and honesty. These emotions really help to convey the whole message of what the story of Adam and Eve are all about.

In my opinion, this is one of the best plays I have ever seen. And according to Sarah Entner, a storyteller in the play, she claims that the show on November 17 was “our best show”.  I think overall this play was very well executed. It was filled with many talented singers, dancers, and characters.
