Field Hockey Loses Close Game to C. Milton

On Monday October 15, 2018 the Bel Air Field Hockey team faced C. Milton Wright on the road in a rivalry showdown, the Mustangs came out with a close win by a score of 2-1.

Milton came out strong and scored quickly in the first half, obtaining the early momentum. The Bobcats fought hard to answer back but were unable to do so and the Mustangs were able to put in one more before the conclusion of the first half.

Bel Air switched up their game plan after halftime, and with an aggressive push towards C. Milton’s goal, left midfielder Bailey Springer was able to send one past the goalie making the score 2-1 Mustangs.  The Bobcats defense was able to hold the Mustangs off for the remainder of the game, but their offense was unable to produce another goal and C. Milton came out on top winning 2-1.

“I thought we played very defensively after our goal in the second half, so if we push more on offense in our upcoming game against C. Milton then I think we will have better results,” explained Senior Captain Megan Keller.  “Overall, both teams are very competitive and intense so it makes for a good game.”

Both teams are heading to the playoffs and if they are both successful in their first games they will see each other again.  Both teams are very familiar with one another and have seen each other time and time again in past playoffs.

“I don’t believe we played to our full potential for the entire game,” said Bel Air’s second Senior Captain Annika Egerland.  “We pulled ourselves together in the second half but it just wasn’t enough. If we play like that the whole game we will surely come out with the win the next time we see them.”
