On Thursday, September 27, 2018, the Bel Air Girls’ Soccer team defeated the North Harford Hawks at Bel Air High School 4-0 in their Maroon Game.

The Bobcats hosted a Maroon Game to support junior player Maddie Wallace’s mom, Marianne McDonough, in her fight against cancer. The team went all out on the field to show their support.

“You play your hardest for other people so that everyone can see that you care,” said Senior Maddy Crossley.

The North Harford Hawks and Bel Air Bobcats both played a great game, but Bel Air’s Senior Goalkeeper, Jill Kozak, did not let any goals into the back of the net.

Sophomore Aspacia Vlangas, and Seniors Grace Wehland, Maddy Crossley, and Autumn Dougherty scored the four goals of the game for the Bobcats. They showed a lot of teamwork both on defense as well as playing up the field all the way to their forwards to get some finishes in the Hawks’ goal.

“The Maroon game was a really important game for our team. It meant a lot to us and we love Ms. Marianne and hope the best for her. We played good together that game. Grace Wehland and I both scored a header, but it was all off Katie McGrain’s corner kicks. It was a special win for us and we can’t wait for the rest of the season,” said Aspacia Vlangas.
