Bel Air Golf Prevails in Tough Conditions

On September 27, 2018 a rainy Thursday afternoon, the Bel Air Golf team competed against Perryville and Harford Tech in a multi-team matchup at Winters Run Golf Club.

Senior golfers Josh Stocum, and Jared Clelland led the way in scoring. Stocum contributed the lowest team score of a 39, while Clelland scored in at a 44.

The Bobcats ended up winning the match with a score of 235, even though the conditions were tough and had multiple players that couldn’t play in the match.

Senior Jared Clelland said, “My round Thursday was okay, conditions were not ideal considering I forgot all my rain gear. Conditions were already damp so a consistent rain the entirety of the round was not helping but we ended up winning, so it was all good.”

Most teams in the county have been at a severe disadvantage due to the weather recently. With the consistent rainfall, local courses are getting flooded, therefore preventing most teams from practicing their skills.

Clelland went on to say, “We had multiple things going against us this match, and we had some of our backups play and I felt they stepped up to the occasion. Which is surprising because it’s very difficult to play in those type of conditions, no matter what type of golfer you are.”

It was an impressive win for the Bobcat Golfers, and well-earned thanks to the challenges mother nature had brought with her.
