On Thursday, September 20, 2018, the Varsity Girls’ Volleyball team played against the Perryville Panthers at Perryville High School. The Bobcats defeated the Panthers by a score of 3-1 (25-21, 25-18, 11-25, 25-18).

Perryville has had a big reputation in Volleyball for the past several years. In five of the last seven years, the Panthers have played for the Class 1A state title, so this was always going to be one of the biggest games of the year for the Bobcats.

Leading the attack for Bel Air included senior Megan Hoy (9 kills, 3 aces, 1 block), Junior McKenna Reiswig (8 kills, 10 blocks), Sophomore Maddie Reagan (6 kills, 2 aces) and Junior Olivia Simon (13 assists, 3 kills, 8 blocks.

“This was our most intense game this year,” says Junior McKenna Reiswig. “Losing the third set by so much definitely put us down, but if we wanted to win this game, we all knew we had to stick together and play our hearts out, and coming back from that loss helped us a lot in winning this match.”

Other key contributors for this match include Senior Brooke Myers (4 kills), Senior Erin Kenney (3 kills) and Junior Sarah Markland (7 assists).

“This was such a huge win for us, and a huge push forward for us as we continue the season. The competition is only going to get harder, but if we play like we played tonight, who knows what we can accomplish,” says Junior Olivia Simon.

The Bobcats will hope to continue their success despite a tough upcoming schedule.
