On Saturday, September 15, 2018, the Varsity Girls’ Volleyball team played a non-conference match at Bel Air High School against the Patriots of John Carroll. The Bobcats defeated the Patriots with a score of 3-1.

This was the second annual Battle of Bel Air, and at the time, Bel Air was ahead of John Carroll, winning three of the seven events. This made the match for Bel Air crucial if they wanted to take home the win and the Commissioners Cup.

The key player for this game was sophomore outside hitter Maddie Reagan, who led the Bobcats to their victory with seven kills. Reagan also had six aces against the Patriots.

“I’m so proud of the way we played today. So many people were depending on us to win this game and I’m so glad we were able to show everyone what we can really do on the court,” says Maddie Reagan.

In the end, Bel Air secured the win and took home the trophy. Other key players in this match included senior libero Radhika Patel, senior hitters Erin Kenney and Megan Hoy, and junior setters Olivia Simon and Sarah Markland.

“As soon as the student section came to our game, it made us play even better. Having a crowd definitely makes us more excited to play and I hope we can keep a big section like this one in future games,” says Senior Captain Erin Kenney

The girls’ varsity volleyball team plays their next game at Bel Air hosting the Eagles of North East High School. Come out and cheer on your volleyball team!
